Liquefied air separation products and natural gas are converted into gaseous state using atmospheric cryogenic liquid evaporators. Units look like a set of air heat exchanger panels with parallel – series collectors. Unit performance depends on heat exchanger surface, humidity, ambient temperature. The maximum is reached in dry, hot, windy weather.

Structure

Atmospheric evaporator for liquid oxygen, other cryogenic liquids looks like a frame with parallel pipes. Ribs increase heat exchange area. Vertical unit takes less space and is characterized by higher performance compared to horizontal. At evaporator outlet and inlet, flange or threaded connections are made. Instrumentation and safety devices are installed according to customers’ requirements.

Classification

Atmospheric evaporators are designed for operation at temperatures from -196 °C to +50 °C at pressure:

  • low, up to 40 bar,
  • high, up to 420 bar.

In low-pressure evaporators, contact with the external environment is provided by aluminum profile surface with fins. In units designed for high pressure, steel tubes made of stainless alloys are placed inside the longitudinally finned aluminum cavities.
