Active aluminium oxide is a highly porous ceramic adsorbent, which is actively used in cold regenerated dryers where a dew point below -70°C is required.
Due to its particles’ spherical shape, active aluminium oxide is highly resistant to compression and abrasion, and its spherical shape allows adsorbent to be compactly and uniformly loaded into adsorbers (dryers or cleaners) with minimal shrinkage. This shape also favours higher flow rates of dried or purified gases.
In addition, active aluminium oxides are inert when interacting with most gases, making them ideal for use in petrochemical products purification applications. They show high resistance to clogging by olefin polymerisation products.
Due to its microporous structure and hydrophilicity, active aluminium oxides have an excellent ability to adsorb water, thus providing efficient drying and purification of various gases such as air, hydrogen, natural gas, and others. Active aluminium oxides are also used as a protective layer over molecular sieves and are stable in Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) processes.
Active aluminium oxide adsorbent is regenerated by forced desorption. This material can withstand up to 600 regeneration cycles, ensuring a long service life of up to 3 years, depending on loading degree and regeneration frequency.
